Why?
As airline employees we have seen and experienced first hand the devastating effects of September 11, 2001 on us and our families. There is no better way to honor the memory of the thirty three crewmembers than with a donation to Airline Ride Across America. Our purpose is to honor the memory of these thirty three crewmembers that died on 9-11. The proceeds of our ride will go directly to the Pentagon, WTC, and Shanksville memorials, in the name and honor of the flight crews. It is our desire to present three (3) large checks to each of these memorials. It is also an opportunity to tell the story of the crewmembers, of their lives and what they did for us.
This is not just an opportunity to fund-raise for the respective memorials but also in some respect promote the ethos, given the sacrifices made by all airline employees since September 11, 2001. This is still one of the best professions. It is an ideal profession for those that will follow us: our children. Our aim is to have other airline employees and anyone else join us, this ride is open to all from anywhere across the country that wish to participate with us on our ride. Be it one mile, one hundred miles, one day, one thousand miles, one week, or three thousand miles and four weeks.
There will be an interactive map showing our progress and an accompanying daily log of whom and what we saw that day. There will be calls to radio stations and there will media appearances in the major cities along the way promoting the 33 crewmembers and the ride across the country.
